Zambia Sugar Plc invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates. Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will own mechanical iAMP construction and factory fire-reticulation systems while embedding the ABF Way of Maintenance and world-class practices.
Key Performance Areas
• Ensure optimal performance of mechanical equipment across the sugar factory.
• Provide engineering input on vessels, piping, structures, fire-reticulation systems and equipment availability.
• Develop repair solutions and coordinate work on critical equipment and abnormal projects.
• Provide mechanical-engineering input into capital, abnormal and maintenance projects and manage allocated capital projects.
• Oversee off-crop mechanical works and stop-day maintenance planning and execution.
• Develop and manage season and off-crop mechanical budgets and resources.
• Address production losses and improve system and equipment reliability.
• Collaborate with the Reliability Engineer on design modifications and reliability strategies.
• Provide day-to-day technical expertise, leadership, specifications and plant-modification input.
• Drive continuous improvement and the adoption of group engineering best practices.
• Manage service-provider relationships, technical standards, statutory requirements, risk controls and OSH legal appointments.
• Monitor KPIs and comply with ABF procedures on SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
• Full Grade 12 Certificate.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Preferably 3+ years’ broad experience with sugar-mill equipment.
• Preferably 2+ years’ experience with water-tube boilers and power generation.
• Preferably 2+ years’ maintenance-engineering experience.
• Continuous-improvement knowledge and experience.
• Strong knowledge of OSH statutory maintenance, inspections and legal appointments for sugar-milling equipment, including high-pressure steam systems, power generation and rotating equipment.
• Certificates must be verified by ZAQA.
