Zambia Sugar Plc invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates. Reporting to the Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will support factory operations by ensuring safe and consistent power supply and effective life-cycle management of electrical systems.
Key Performance Areas
• Serve as the appointed competent person responsible for electrical infrastructure within the assigned jurisdiction.
• Ensure workplace electrical safety and compliance with regulations and applicable standards.
• Appoint and oversee competent supervisors, electricians-in-charge, electricians and instrumentation personnel.
• Manage medium-voltage switching programmes and MV safety requirements.
• Collaborate with engineers and project managers to complete projects safely, on time, within budget and to industry standards.
• Prepare safety and technical documentation, including updated drawings, schematics, work instructions and procedures.
• Manage maintenance budgets, timelines, suppliers, service providers and progress reporting.
• Maintain power transmission and distribution infrastructure, including lines, substations, transformers, protection and metering equipment.
• Coordinate power-outage schedules and ensure legally compliant electricity reticulation and equipment.
• Implement solutions for voltage dips, outages, overloads and other power-system issues.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
• Full Grade 12 Certificate.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Preferably 5 years’ experience in high- and low-tension electricity supply and maintenance, with extensive control and instrumentation knowledge.
• Familiarity with ABF systems and SAP is an advantage.
• Proven electrical-infrastructure maintenance and improvement experience.
• Employee and contractor management experience, plus continuous-improvement knowledge.
• Certificates must be verified by ZAQA.
