Job Summary

The Technical Assistant to the Group Chief Financial Officer GCFO provides high-level strategic, financial, and operational support to the GCFO, ensuring effective execution of finance initiatives across the Group. The role serves as a critical liaison between the GCFO and internal stakeholders, supporting financial planning, business performance management, Board reporting, regulatory compliance, strategic projects, and cross-functional initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong financial analysis skills, excellent business writing capabilities, and a solid understanding of financial services, capital markets, investment management, and regulatory reporting. This role requires exceptional analytical ability, discretion, attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Job Details

Executive & Strategic Support

  • Provide technical support to the GCFO on strategic finance initiatives and business priorities.
  • Prepare executive briefs, Board papers, presentations, speeches, and financial reports for senior management and the Board.
  • Conduct industry, economic, and financial research to support executive decision-making.

Financial Planning & Performance Management

  • Support the preparation of the Group's annual budget, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
  • Analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial performance across subsidiaries.
  • Prepare financial dashboards, management reports, and variance analyses.
  • Identify performance trends, risks, and opportunities for cost optimization and revenue enhancement.

Stakeholder Management

  • Liaise with subsidiary finance teams to ensure timely submission of financial information.
  • Coordinate communication between the GCFO and internal stakeholders.
  • Build effective working relationships with Internal Audit, Risk Management, Compliance, Treasury, and Business Unit Heads.

Reporting & Regulatory Compliance

  • Support the preparation of Board reports, investor presentations, and regulatory submissions.
  • Ensure timely collection of financial information from subsidiaries.
  • Coordinate reporting requirements across regulated entities.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with IFRS, SEC, NGX, CBN, FRC, and other applicable regulatory standards.

Business Planning & Corporate Finance Support

  • Assist in evaluating new business opportunities, investment proposals, and strategic initiatives.
  • Develop financial models and scenario analysis to support business decisions.
  • Support capital allocation, profitability analysis, and business case development.
  • Participate in mergers, acquisitions, capital raising, and other corporate finance projects as required.

Process Improvement

  • Review existing finance processes and recommend improvements.
  • Support automation and digital transformation initiatives within Finance.
  • Drive continuous improvement in reporting accuracy, efficiency and governance.

Requirements

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related fields.
  • Master’s degree/MBA from a recognized institution preferred.
  • Professional Qualification: ACA, ACCA or CFA or any equivalent professional qualifications is required. 
  • Minimum of 4-6 years' relevant experience in finance, corporate finance, financial planning & analysis, investment banking, asset management, audit, or strategy.
  • Experience within a financial institution, investment bank, asset management firm, stockbroking firm, or capital market operator is strongly preferred.
