About the Role Reporting directly to the Coordinator, the Specialist, Maintenance plays a critical role in coordinating maintenance activities across the mining fleet.
You will work closely with the Coordinator and foremen to ensure efficient execution of maintenance tasks, both in the workshop and on-site, while championing quality and safety standards. Key Responsibilities for Maintenance Specialist Jobs in Solwezi Support the Area Superintendent and Maintenance Coordinator in planning and scheduling maintenance works, ensuring all necessary parts and materials are available.
Supervise and provide leadership to crew foremen, fostering a culture of quality and visible leadership on the operational floor. Manage the CMMS backlog to incorporate all pending maintenance tasks into scheduled plans.
Collaborate with supply chain teams to resolve consumable material shortages ahead of maintenance activities. Coordinate safety compliance efforts and maintain a safe working environment by enforcing company policies and safe work practices.
Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis and liaise with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot equipment failures and incidents. Contribute to the development and improvement of engineering standards, SOPs, and QA/QC documentation.
Assist in budgeting, cost control, and component tracking to optimize maintenance effectiveness. Establish workshop tooling best practices alongside the Coordinator and Foremen.
Perform additional duties as assigned by Management. Qualifications and Experience Minimum Grade 12 School Certificate.
Diploma in a Mechanical field or equivalent; a Degree in Mechanical Engineering is advantageous. Craft Certificate in HER and valid membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
Capability to hold MR207 or 210(1b) appointment. Valid Class B manual driving license or higher.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. All academic qualifications must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
3 to 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in heavy equipment maintenance environments. Proven leadership experience managing teams of artisans and technicians.
Knowledge of Condition Based Maintenance and CMMS systems, particularly Pronto. Ability to interpret oil laboratory analysis results.
Behavioural and Operational Requirements Demonstrated conflict resolution skills and experience working in fast-paced, multicultural environments. Visible, approachable leadership style with strong interpersonal skills.
Exposure to operational conditions including dust, heat, and noise. Advanced computer skills, including database management.
