Fitter and Turner

You will work across electrical and mechanical systems, extrusion and forming machinery, planned maintenance, breakdowns and improvement projects—while maintaining the strict BRC compliance standards essential to packaging operations.

Duties / Key Responsibilities

• Perform planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance
• Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults quickly and accurately
• Maintain PVC, PET and styrene extrusion and forming machinery
• Work with hydraulics, pneumatics, VSDs, PLCs and control systems
• Respond promptly to breakdowns and minimise production downtime
• Inspect machinery, equipment and facility infrastructure
• Assist with projects, planning and drawings for electrical spares
• Participate in standby duties on a roster basis
• Maintain BRC compliance across hazard management, cleaning records, foreign-body controls, glass and brittle-plastic controls, document control and file management

• 3–6 years’ maintenance experience preferably in a packaging production environment
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding ability
• Experience with extrusion and forming equipment
• Own reliable transport
• Willingness to work standby and attend call-outs

• Matric / NQF Level 4
• Qualified Millwright
• Trade Test / Red Seal certification

• Methodical, safety-conscious and detail-focused, with strong problem-solving skills, clear communication and a consistently high standard of workmanship.

• The proposed salary for the role is R25k - R31k basic salary per month - the final offer will depend on qualifications, experience and skills.
