Job Summary

The Training and Capacity Building Officer is responsible for identifying training needs, designing and coordinating learning programs, and implementing capacity-building initiatives that enhance employee skills, knowledge, and performance. The role supports organizational effectiveness by promoting continuous learning, professional development, leadership growth, and workforce capability enhancement.

Key Responsibilities

Training Needs Assessment

  • Conduct training needs assessments to identify skills gaps and development priorities. 
  • Collaborate with department heads and managers to determine learning requirements. 
  • Analyze performance evaluation results and organizational objectives to develop training plans. 
  • Maintain training needs database and development plans for employees. 
  • Design, develop, and coordinate training programs, workshops, seminars, and learning activities. 
  • Prepare training materials, presentations, manuals, and learning resources. 
  • Ensure training programs align with organizational goals and competency frameworks. 
  • Coordinate both internal and external training opportunities. 

Training Program Development

  • Design, develop, and coordinate training programs, workshops, seminars, and learning activities.

Capacity Building Initiatives

  • Develop and implement capacity-building strategies to strengthen employee competencies and organizational capabilities. 
  • Support leadership development, succession planning, and talent development initiatives. 
  • Facilitate programs aimed at improving technical, managerial, and behavioral competencies. 
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing. 

Training Coordination & Administration

  • Organize training schedules, venues, logistics, and participant registration. 
  • Coordinate with trainers, consultants, and external training providers. 
  • Maintain accurate training records, attendance reports, and learning databases. 
  • Monitor training budgets and ensure cost-effective implementation of learning activities. 
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through feedback surveys, assessments, and performance measurements. 
  • Track employee participation and training completion rates. 
  • Measure the impact of training programs on employee performance and organizational objectives. 
  • Prepare reports on training activities, outcomes, and recommendations. 

Monitoring & Evaluation

Employee Development Support

  • Support career development and individual learning plans. 
  • Assist employees in identifying professional development opportunities. 
  • Provide guidance on competency development and career progression. 
  • Facilitate mentoring and coaching programs where applicable. 

Knowledge Management

  • Establish and maintain training resources, learning materials, and knowledge-sharing platforms. 
  • Encourage best-practice sharing across departments. 
  • Support the development of internal trainers and subject matter experts. 

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and relevant training regulations. 
  • Maintain training documentation and records for audits and reporting purposes. 
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual training and development reports.
