Employment Information

We are looking for a Technical Support Specialist (Mining Equipment) with the following capabilities and experience:

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Grade 12 or Matric
  • Technical certification or diploma an advantage
  • 3-5 years extensive experience with hard rock mining equipment
  • Ability to work extended hours as required to meet deadlines
  • Ability to travel as required
  • May be required to work in an underground environment
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, SAP, Microsoft Navision or Business Central is beneficial
  • Utilize 3D CAD programs to create illustrations for manuals
  • Knowledge of, and experience with Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint) is beneficial
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulics and electrical systems
  • Good understanding of engineering drawings with ability to read and interpret equipment schematics
  • Good understanding of bill of material structures and engineering/manufacturing processes
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be flexible, self-motivated, and driven to achieve customer satisfaction goals and targets
  • Knowledge of customer industry
  • Superior customer relations and active listening skills

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Business Central System (Item Cards)
    • Creating part numbers from manuals/requests and drawings
    • Modify/Edit/Block/Update of part numbers
    • Taking of/Editing/Adding part pictures to System
    • Up keeping and maintenance of items on Business central (Images/Descriptions/Specs/Attributes)
    • Adding various technical documentation to items on Business Central
    • Audit/Version or Revise and controlling of drawings on Business Central (Change Management)
  • Bill of Materials and Routings
    • Create/Modify/Edit/Update of machine items bill of materials and routings on system
    • Create/Modify/Edit/Update of various sub-component bill of materials and routings on system
    • Create/Modify/Edit/Update of hydraulic hosing/tubing and sub-contractor items bill of materials and routings on system
    • Ensure all machine BOMS are structured to drawing where applicable (hydraulic/electric/plate work)
    • Ensure all sub-component BOMS are structured to the OEM recommendations or via the manuals provided
    • Ensure all internal tools and equipment BOMS are structured to drawing where applicable (Test Benches/Jigs)
    • Bill of material audits on drawings/manuals, if necessary and advising
    • Bill of material corrections and change management
  • Production Jobs
    • Assisting when required of production job queries relating to BOM discrepancies
    • Part reversals, investigating and updating Business Central if necessary
  • Scopes (New & Rebuild Machines)
    • Assisting of machine scopes received alongside technical, sales and service
    • Assisting of changes to scopes, with bill of material corrections and production jobs
    • Assisting of scope documents and build scopes every month with relevant machine details for production
  • Support
    • Assisting all departments/Branches with identifying part numbers of parts
    • Assisting all departments/Branches with part numbers they need on all machines
    • Assisting and handling of all part echnical queries internal to KMC Hard Rock Division
    • Updating of Business Central and scope interface for bulletins and technical information where applicable
    • Assisting/Auditing and updates on the technical library and its parts database
  • Parts Book Manuals & Documentation
    • Assisting with audits of parts book manuals where required
    • Develop and create a working bill of material for parts manuals
    • Identify and control of errors in parts manuals via “Request to Write” system
    • Control and manage of changes and updates to machine parts books through publications
    • Ensure all technical documentation is archived where applicable and system is up to date with technical specifications of OEM parts
  • Mentorship & Junior(s) Development
    • Assist with onboarding and training a junior team member within the support specialist function
    • Provide hands-on training to organise, upload, co-ordinate technical content through Business Central System
    • Guide the junior(s) in understanding Bill of Material (BOM) Structures, document control processes, revision management,
      and configuration control requirements
    • Ensure the Junior(s) adheres to its business units’ standards, engineering change processes, and quality requirements
    • Support the junior(s) with day-to-day tasks, checking work for accuracy and helping correct mistakes where needed
    • Share practical knowledge on document revisions, system usage, and administrative standards
    • Facilitate knowledge transfer on systems, tools, workflows, and cross-departmental coordination (Engineering, Production,
      Aftermarket and Quality)
  • EHS
