Job Summary

  • The Systems Administrator is responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting the organization’s IT infrastructure.
  • This includes managing servers, computer systems, networks, software applications, user accounts, and hardware to ensure optimal performance, security, and business continuity.
  • The role also provides technical support to users and implements preventive maintenance to minimize system downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, operating systems, and business applications.
  • Administer and maintain Windows/Linux servers, Active Directory, email systems, and user accounts.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Provide technical support to employees and resolve IT-related incidents promptly.
  • Manage system backups, disaster recovery processes, and data restoration when required.
  • Install software updates, patches, and security fixes to ensure system integrity.
  • Configure and maintain printers, scanners, network devices, and other IT peripherals.
  • Monitor antivirus, firewall, and endpoint security solutions.
  • Maintain LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, and internet connectivity.
  • Ensure IT assets are properly documented, tracked, and maintained.
  • Manage user access rights and enforce IT security policies.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for hardware repairs, software licensing, and technical support.
  • Maintain documentation for IT systems, procedures, and configurations.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to enhance system performance, reliability, and security.
  • Support IT projects, system upgrades, and technology deployments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications are an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in systems administration or IT infrastructure support.

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server and/or Linux administration.
  • Good understanding of networking concepts TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, routing, and switching.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting computer hardware and software issues.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and endpoint protection.
  • Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work under minimal supervision.
