POSITION: STADIUM WARDEN

Location: Zomba

  • Groundmen
  • Guards

JOB SUMMARY

Zomba City Council is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Stadium Warden based at Zomba Stadium.

This is a supervisory position responsible for the day-to-day management, operations, supervision, and maintenance of Zomba Stadium. The position is offered on a three-year renewable contract.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Applicants must possess:

  • A Diploma in Sports Science, Business Administration, or any relevant diploma qualification related to sports obtained from a recognized institution.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ work experience in the field of sports and hospitality.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

a) Coordinate all sporting activities at the stadium through an organized calendar of key events to ensure uninterrupted hosting of events and functions.

b) Act as the liaison officer with stakeholders and clients on sporting activities, including but not limited to football clubs, FAM, and SULOM.

c) Oversee the daily management, operations, and maintenance of Zomba Stadium.

d) Coordinate all commercial undertakings at the stadium, including stadium and conference bookings and hirings.

e) Ensure safety, security, and compliance with local football regulations in the operations of the stadium.

f) Monitor and maintain cleanliness of the stadium and its surrounding environment.

g) Assist in performing routine maintenance tasks such as restocking supplies and replacement of broken systems and fittings.

h) Supervise stadium staff and service providers.

i) Prepare and manage budget and revenue activities for the stadium.

j) Assist in coordinating meetings with the Stadium Management Committee and stakeholders.

k) Perform any other duties assigned from time to time.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  1. Conversant with sports policies and laws in Malawi.
  2. Strong numerical, communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
