Job Summary

  • The Sorter is responsible for accurately receiving, sorting, scanning, organizing, and preparing parcels for dispatch according to company procedures and destination routes.
  • The role ensures parcels are handled with care, processed efficiently, and dispatched within approved timelines to support excellent customer service and operational efficiency.
  • The Sorter is expected to maintain high standards of accuracy, productivity, discipline, and teamwork while complying with all operational and safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities
Parcel Receiving:

  • Receive inbound parcels from transport vehicles.
  • Verify parcel quantities against the accompanying manifest.
  • Report any shortages, damages, or discrepancies immediately to the Team Lead or Operations Supervisor.
  • Ensure all incoming parcels are properly documented before processing.

Parcel Sorting:

  • Sort parcels accurately according to destination, route, hub, or delivery zone.
  • Separate priority, express, fragile, and special handling shipments where applicable.
  • Ensure parcels are placed in the correct sorting locations.
  • Minimize sorting errors and misrouted parcels.

Parcel Scanning:

  • Scan all parcels using the Company's scanning devices or software.
  • Ensure all parcel movements are updated accurately in the system.
  • Report scanning errors or system issues immediately.
  • Verify that parcel information matches system records.

Loading & Dispatch:

  • Assist in loading parcels onto delivery vehicles according to dispatch plans.
  • Ensure parcels are loaded safely to prevent damage during transportation.
  • Verify parcel quantities before vehicle departure.
  • Assist with unloading inbound vehicles when required.

Parcel Handling:

  • Handle all parcels with care to prevent loss or damage.
  • Identify and report damaged or suspicious parcels immediately.
  • Ensure fragile items are handled according to Company procedures.
  • Maintain parcel security at all times.

Warehouse Housekeeping:

  • Keep the sorting area clean, organized, and free from hazards.
  • Arrange parcels neatly to maximize warehouse space.
  • Dispose of waste materials appropriately.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe working environment.

Teamwork:

  • Work closely with Team Leads, Supervisors, Transport Officers, and other warehouse personnel.
  • Support colleagues during peak operational periods.
  • Attend shift briefings and operational meetings.
  • Maintain a positive and cooperative working relationship with all team members.

Compliance:

  • Follow all Company Standard Operating Procedures SOPs.
  • Comply with workplace safety regulations.
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment PPE where applicable.
  • Observe security procedures within the warehouse.
  • Adhere to Company policies on attendance, punctuality, and discipline.

Productivity:

  • Meet daily sorting targets established by Management.
  • Complete assigned tasks within required timelines.
  • Assist in reducing warehouse backlog.
  • Support initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency.

Reporting:
Immediately report the following to the Team Lead or Operations Supervisor:

  • Damaged parcels
  • Missing parcels
  • Incorrect parcel labels
  • Scanning issues
  • Equipment malfunctions
  • Safety hazards
  • Operational delays
  • Any suspicious activities within the warehouse
  • Parcel sorting accuracy.
  • Number of parcels sorted per shift.
  • Scanning accuracy.
  • Reduction in parcel misrouting.
  • Timely completion of assigned tasks.
  • Compliance with operational procedures.
  • Attendance and punctuality.
  • Teamwork and cooperation.
  • Reduction in parcel damage.
  • Warehouse cleanliness and organization.

Requirements

  • Candidates should possess an NCE, OND,SSCE / GCE / NECO with 1-3 years experience
  • proximity to Ikeja GRA will be an advantage.
  • Candidates living at Ikeja, Mafoluku, Oshodi and its environs will be considered.
