Position summary
The Skilled Laundry Presser is responsible for pressing, ironing, and finishing garments and linens to a high professional standard. The role requires expertise in handling a wide range of fabrics and finishing equipment, producing crisp, wrinkle-free results while protecting items from damage. A skilled presser combines speed with precision and a strong eye for presentation.
Key responsibilities
- Press, iron, and finish garments and linens using hand irons, steam presses, form finishers, and specialized pressing equipment.
- Select the correct temperature, pressure, and steam settings for each fabric type to avoid scorching, shine, or damage.
- Handle delicate, structured, and high-value garments suits, dress shirts, pleated and tailored items with appropriate techniques.
- Inspect items before and after pressing for stains, damage, or defects, returning items for rewashing or stain treatment as needed.
- Apply finishing details such as creases, pleats, and folds to specification.
- Ensure finished items meet quality standards and are neatly hung, folded, or packaged for delivery or return.
- Maintain pressing equipment, performing routine cleaning and minor adjustments, and report malfunctions promptly.
- Meet production targets and turnaround times without compromising quality.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety standards.
- Follow special handling instructions and maintain confidentiality where required.
Candidates MUST reside in Surulere / Yaba environs.
