JOB PURPOSE

The Recruitment and Training Officer will oversee the recruitment, vetting, onboarding and training of security personnel and supervisors.

The successful candidate must be able to identify the right officer for the right assignment, considering experience, competence, discipline, skills and the requirements of different client service tiers.

1. RECRUITMENT, ASSESSMENT & VETTING

  • Source and identify suitable security officer candidates based on LSO's operational requirements.
  • Conduct interviews, practical and physical assessments.
  • Assess candidates' experience, competence, discipline, presentation and suitability for deployment.
  • Conduct and coordinate appropriate background and reference checks.
  • Recommend suitable candidates for employment and support onboarding.
  • Identify officers suitable for different client tiers and levels of responsibility.

2. OFFICER TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT

  • Deliver standardized training to newly recruited and existing security officers.
  • Conduct group, individual, refresher and on-site training.
  • Train officers in security procedures, access control, patrols, asset protection, incident reporting, communication, customer service, emergency response, professional conduct and site-specific procedures.
  • Assess officers after training and identify areas requiring additional training or development.
  • Provide corrective and refresher training where required.
  • Ensure officers across LSO receive consistent training and follow the same operational standards.
  • Develop and maintain relevant training materials and resources for security officers.

3. FIREARMS & TACTICAL TRAINING

  • Provide safe and professional training in firearm handling, safety and responsible use where applicable.
  • Ensure firearms-related training is conducted in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and LSO procedures.
  • Work with appropriately licensed personnel where specialized firearms requirements apply.

The successful candidate should have demonstrable experience in firearms safety, handling and instruction, where applicable.

4. SUPERVISOR TRAINING

  • Train all LSO supervisors, including existing and newly appointed supervisors.
  • Standardize supervisor training in areas such as officer management, reporting, discipline, operational procedures and performance standards.
  • Ensure supervisors understand and consistently implement LSO's required standards.
  • Assess supervisor training needs and provide additional training where required.

5. SITE & REGIONAL TRAINING

  • Conduct training at client sites and designated training locations.
  • Adapt practical training to specific site requirements.
  • Travel to LSO's operational locations across Zambia for recruitment, assessments and training.
  • Work closely with Operations to identify site-specific personnel and training requirements.

6. RECORDS & REPORTING

  • Maintain accurate records of recruitment, vetting, assessments and training.
  • Track training requirements and refresher training for officers and supervisors.
  • Prepare relevant recruitment and training reports for management.

7. COLLABORATION

  • Work closely with Human Resources and Operations on recruitment, training and officer development.
  • Support Operations in identifying performance and training gaps among officers and supervisors.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Grade 12 Certificate — minimum requirement.
  • Relevant Diploma or higher qualification is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 2–3 years' relevant experience in security recruitment and training.
  • Previous experience in the private security industry is required.
  • Demonstrable experience recruiting, assessing and training security personnel.
  • Demonstrable experience training both new recruits and existing security officers.
  • Practical experience in firearms safety, handling and instruction where applicable.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to LSO's operational locations across Zambia.
