Job Details

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect all incoming raw materials against specifications, release only compliant products to production
  • Record all findings during receiving, record and notify all the relevant people when products are rejected, or when a non-conformance is issued.
  • Inspect all incoming vehicles against the food safety requirements (e.g. temperature, cleanliness) 
  • Monitor and verify the quality of products, during receiving, storage and production and ensure that the final product specification is met before the product is released. 
  • Conducting shelf life, pH, Brix and organoleptic tests on products during the various operational stages. 
  • Ensure the final product is meeting all the requirements and that the COA matches the product before it is released. Quality Controllers must be present when product is released, while trucks are loading to verify the process. 
  • Sending product samples for micro analysis, heavy metal testing and MRL’s and keeping retention samples of every batch that is produced. 
  • Compile product Specifications. 
  • Conduct monthly swabs as per the food safety management system schedule. 
  • To complete driver checklist, cleaning checklists, glass & hard plastics register and conduct personal hygiene checks as per the food safety management system schedule. 
  • Handling customer queries, complaints, and give feedback.
  • Interpret and report, the test results and give feedback. 
  • Report on non-conforming products and action the necessary rework (in conjunction with Quality Assurance) 
  • Verify the calibration of scales, thermometers, refractometers, and pH meters daily, before use. 
  • Handling of COA queries 
  • Ordering of chemicals and consumables (eg packaging). Control and record the issuing of stock, packaging and chemicals to production. Informing Quality Assurance when packaging runs low. 
  • Investigate and depending on findings, release the stock in Q on Sage.
  • Partaking in internal quality and food safety audits. 
  • Reporting to the Quality Assurance Supervisor. 
Requirements
  • Food Technologist qualification or similar (Not negotiable)
  • 2 – 3 Years experience with fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Must be willing to work shifts
