Job Purpose:
To lead the planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of health and protection activities in Benishangul Gumuz, ensuring quality service delivery, donor compliance, effective team management, and coordination with Government Authorities, partners and humanitarian stakeholders. The Project Manager will be managed by the General Coordinator based in Addis Ababa. He/She will receive technical support from the Grants and MEAL-Manager, Logistics Manager, HR-Manager and Finance Coordinator. He/She will directly manage Logistics Assistant and Finance Assistant based in Benishangul Gumuz Region, Assosa Field Office. He/She will closely work with national partner implementing Protection activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management:
- Lead the implementation of project activities in line with approved proposal, work plans, budgets, and donor requirements.
- Ensure timely achievement of project objectives, outputs, and indicators.
- Develop and monitor detailed implementation plans.
- Conduct regular field visits to supervise activities and assess progress.
- Identify operational challenges and propose corrective actions.
Program Quality and Technical Oversight:
- Ensure delivery of high-quality primary healthcare In coordination with our partners in the region.
- Monitor adherence to national protocols and MdM technical standards.
- Organize and support health facility strengthening and capacity building initiatives.
- Ensure effective monitoring, data collection, and reporting systems.
Team Management.
- Supervise project staff and provide technical guidance and mentoring.
- Conduct performance management, objective setting, and staff development.
- Promote culture of teamwork, accountability, and adherence to MdM values and policies.
- Identify training needs and support capacity building plans.
Budget and Financial Management.
- Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets.
- Prepare budget forecasts and spending plans.
- Ensure efficient and accountable use of project resources.
- Support donor financial reporting requirements.
Coordination and Representation.
- Represent MdM in regional coordination meetings and technical working groups.
- Maintain strong collaboration with Regional; Health Bureau, Local Authorities, Refugee and Returnees Service, UN Agencies and community stakeholders.
- Support humanitarian coordination and referral mechanisms.
- Strengthen partnerships with implementing partners and community structures.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting.
- Ensure timely preparation of internal and donor reports.
- Monitor project indicators and ensure quality data collection.
- Document lessons learnt, best practices, and success stories.
- Support project evaluations, assessments, and audits.
Security and Risk Management.
- Monitor security developments in project areas.
- Ensure compliance with MdM Security Procedures and Contingency Plans.
- Conduct Risk Assessments and support safe access strategies.
- Ensure staff safety and duty of care measures are implemented.
Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
