To deliver engaging, high-quality music education to secondary school students following the British curriculum. The successful candidate will inspire students’ musical development and creativity through performance, theory, and appreciation.
Key Responsibilities

Plan, prepare, and deliver music lessons for Key Stages 3–5 in line with the British curriculum.

Teach music theory, composition, performance, and appreciation across a variety of musical genres.

Prepare students for music examinations, performances, and school productions.

Assess and track student progress; provide constructive feedback and academic support.

Develop and maintain a stimulating classroom environment conducive to learning and creativity.

Coordinate with the school leadership and arts department for school events and concerts.

Encourage and oversee extracurricular musical activities such as choir, band, and ensemble groups.

Maintain positive communication with students, parents, and colleagues.

Stay updated with current educational trends and music pedagogy.
Candidate Requirements Education & Certifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Music or Music Education (completed through face-to-face learning) – Mandatory

PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) – Mandatory

QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) – Mandatory for UK applicants
-
SACE (South African Council for Educators) – Mandatory for South African applicants
Experience
-
Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in a British curriculum school preferred.

Experience preparing students for musical performances and exams (e.g., ABRSM, Trinity) is an advantage.

Background in both classical and contemporary music styles preferred.
Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of music theory, instruments, composition, and performance
