REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years’ practical experience in ICT systems installation, configuration, maintenance and technical support.
  • A valid driver’s licence held for more than one year, with practical driving experience.
  • At least one recognised professional certification, preferably Microsoft, Cisco CCNA, CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, MikroTik, HPE, Aruba, Dell, Lenovo, Ubiquiti or an equivalent certification.

Technical Experience

Practical experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting:

  • Desktop computers, laptops, servers and printers
  • Routers, switches, wireless access points and structured networks
  • Windows operating systems and Microsoft applications
  • CCTV surveillance systems
  • Biometric and card-based access-control systems
  • Two-way radio communication systems
  • Basic solar and backup-power systems
  • Virtualisation platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V

Networking, Installation and Technical Support

  • Good knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, LAN, WAN, VLANs and wireless networks.
  • Ability to join computers to domains, configure user accounts and troubleshoot connectivity problems.
  • Ability to conduct site surveys and prepare technical installation requirements.
  • Experience with structured cabling, equipment mounting, cable termination, labelling and testing.
  • Ability to perform equipment testing, commissioning, preventive maintenance and fault diagnosis.
  • Strong hardware and software installation and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to prepare installation reports, job cards, network diagrams and other technical documentation.

  • Good communication, interpersonal and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team.
  • Willingness to travel and work at client sites when required.
  • Ability to work under pressure and complete assignments within agreed deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Installing, configuring and troubleshooting desktop computers, laptops, servers and printers
  • Installing, configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, wireless access points and structured networks
  • Installing, configuring and troubleshooting Windows operating systems and Microsoft applications
  • Installing, configuring and troubleshooting CCTV surveillance systems
  • Installing, configuring and troubleshooting biometric and card-based access-control systems
  • Installing, configuring and troubleshooting two-way radio communication systems
  • Installing, configuring and troubleshooting basic solar and backup-power systems
  • Installing, configuring and troubleshooting virtualisation platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V
  • Joining computers to domains, configuring user accounts and troubleshooting connectivity problems
