Role Overview
- As the Human Resources Manager for Johnvents Foods, you will lead the people strategy for a fast-paced, high-growth food processing and manufacturing environment. You are responsible for ensuring that our production, supply chain, and commercial teams are staffed with top-tier talent, motivated by a high-performance culture, and supported by robust operational policies. This role requires a blend of factory-floor pragmatism and strategic HR leadership to drive efficiency and compliance across the food production value chain.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Lead the end-to-end recruitment process, with a specific focus on sourcing skilled talent for production, quality control, engineering, and logistics roles.
- Develop and implement effective onboarding programs to ensure quick integration and productivity of factory and office-based staff.
- Maintain optimal staffing levels in line with seasonal production cycles and business expansion plans.
Performance & Capability Building
- Oversee the implementation of the performance management system, ensuring clear KPIs are set for every role from the shop floor to senior management.
- Coordinate training and development initiatives, including safety certifications, food handling compliance, and technical skills training required for food manufacturing excellence.
- Manage succession planning to build a leadership pipeline that can support the rapid scaling of Johnvents Foods.
Employee Relations & Factory Culture
- Act as the primary point of contact for employee concerns, ensuring a fair and transparent working environment.
- Manage industrial relations, ensuring all shop-floor operations comply with labor laws and collective agreements where applicable.
- Drive employee engagement initiatives that foster pride, accountability, and a "quality-first" mindset across the production line.
Operational HR & Compliance
- Ensure all HR operations—including payroll processing, leave management, and benefits administration—are executed accurately and on time.
- Maintain rigorous compliance with NAFDAC, SON, and other regulatory bodies regarding personnel documentation and health & safety standards.
- Manage HR metrics and reporting, providing the Management team with actionable insights on turnover, absenteeism, and workforce costs.
Requirements:
- Experience: 7–10+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 4 years in a management capacity, preferably within FMCG, manufacturing, or food production.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related fields. Professional membership CIPM, SHRM, etc. is mandatory.
Skills:
- Sector Knowledge: Deep understanding of the unique HR challenges in a manufacturing environment shift management, health & safety, union relations.
- Regulatory Literacy: Familiarity with Nigerian labor laws and industrial standards.
- Resilience: Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure production environment.
- Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in HRIS and payroll management systems.
