Job Details

The Botswana Golf Union (BGU) is responsible for promoting, regulating, and advancing the standard of golf in Botswana.

To support the effective delivery of its mandate, BGU seeks a dedicated and capable Coordinator to work closely with the Executive Committee in managing the day-to-day operations of the Union.

The role supports the sustainable development of golf in Botswana, promotes broader participation, and contributes to the development of golfers capable of competing internationally.

The Coordinator will provide administrative, operational, and programme support to the Union and Executive Committee across the following key areas:

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with applicable national and international regulatory and governing bodies, including the Registrar of Societies, BNSC, BNOC, R&A, IGF, AGC, and other relevant institutions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of meetings, policies, governance documents, and other official Union records.
  • Coordinate effective communication between BGU, affiliated clubs, and other key stakeholders.
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of the BGU strategy to ensure the achievement of key objectives.
  • Plan and coordinate national and international golf tournaments and related events.
  • Work closely with host golf clubs to ensure events are delivered in accordance with established standards and requirements.
  • Support fundraising initiatives aimed at generating resources for BGU operations and golf development programmes.
  • Develop partnerships that promote the sport of golf and enhance public awareness of BGU activities.
  • Coordinate the development of golf programmes for juniors, women, and youth.
  • Facilitate grassroots golf training initiatives at affiliated clubs and schools.
  • Support the coordination of training and development programmes for golf coaches.
  • Identify and promote available golf development opportunities and programmes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders involved in the training and development of juniors, women, and youth golfers.
  • Serve as a liaison between BGU and the parents or guardians of junior golfers.
  • Engage sponsors, government institutions, media, and the broader community to support and promote golf development.
  • Support the preparation of financial information, including budgets, reports, and related financial documentation.
  • Assist in securing sponsorships and funding to support Union activities and golf development initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and well-organised financial records of the Union.
  • Manage membership records and support timely membership renewals.
  • Provide responsive support and relevant resources to affiliated member clubs.
  • Promote high standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability in all Union activities.
  • Uphold the principles of sportsmanship, fairness, and ethical conduct across all BGU programmes and events.

Requirements

  • A diploma in Sports Management, Business Administration, Project Management, Marketing, or a related field is required; a degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
  • At least 3 years' relevant experience in sports administration, events coordination, programme management, or a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, event planning, and administrative coordination.
  • Experience in financial administration, sponsorship coordination, or sports development programmes will be an added advantage.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with clubs, sponsors, governing bodies, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement, and maintain a high level of professionalism.
  • Strong coordination, planning, and problem-solving skills in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and general office administration.
  • An understanding of sports development principles and the ability to support programmes that promote participation and talent development.
  • Passion for sports development and a commitment to integrity, teamwork, and service excellence.
