Forensic Accountant

Key responsibilities

• Investigate suspected insurance fraud, financial irregularities and misrepresentation
• Review complex commercial and business-interruption claims
• Analyse financial statements, bank records, invoices, payroll and stock information
• Quantify loss of profit, increased costs, stock losses and other commercial damages
• Reconstruct incomplete financial records and trace transactions
• Prepare detailed forensic and expert reports
• Present findings to insurers, attorneys, loss adjusters and clients
• Support litigation, negotiations and dispute-resolution processes
• Manage assignments and provide guidance to junior team members

• Relevant Accounting, Auditing or Forensic Accounting qualification
• Approximately 5 - 10 years' relevant experience
• Experience in forensic accounting, commercial insurance claims, investigations, external audit or dispute advisory
• Strong financial analysis, Excel and report-writing skills
• Experience with business-interruption or loss-of-profit calculations
• A CA(SA), AGA(SA), CFE or similar designation will be advantageous
• High levels of integrity, professional scepticism and confidentiality
