Role Overview:

  • Finance Coordinator Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Finance Coordinator will manage daily financial operations at CHAI’s Zambia office.
  • This mid-level position is ideal for candidates early in their finance or accounting careers seeking practical experience in an international development environment.

The role emphasizes accuracy, compliance, and audit readiness in financial record-keeping and transaction processing. Key Responsibilities for Finance Coordinator Jobs in Lusaka Process payment requests, vendor invoices, and staff advances in compliance with CHAI’s financial policies.

Collaborate with the Accountant to prepare cash flow analysis reports for the Finance Manager. Ensure transactions are accurately assigned to the appropriate project, donor, and budget line prior to accounting system entry.

Manage bank and mobile money transactions, with oversight from the Accountant, to support program and organizational activities. Organize and maintain physical and electronic financial documentation to ensure audit readiness.

Assist with bank reconciliations, statutory remittance submissions, and routine financial control activities. Maintain vendor files and follow up on outstanding invoices and purchase orders.

Support asset inventory management and provide guidance to non-finance staff on expense submissions. Contribute to month-end close procedures by preparing schedules and documentation as directed.

Assist with country and global audit engagements by providing requested documentation. Prepare financial reports for internal and external stakeholders as needed.

Perform additional duties as assigned to support the finance team. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, ACCA Part II, CIMA Managerial Level, ZICA, or related field.

Mandatory registration as a member of ZICA. Minimum of three years’ relevant experience in finance, accounting, or bookkeeping; NGO or international development experience is advantageous.

Strong understanding of accounting principles and basic financial controls. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with the broader Microsoft Office suite; experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software is a plus.

Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural team. High integrity and accountability in managing organizational finances.
