The role involves supervising, maintaining, and optimizing drilling activities to ensure production targets and operational efficiency in mining or exploration.

Key Responsibilities
- Supervision, maintenance and optimisation of drilling activities within the mining or exploration industry.
- Managing drilling production, rig performance and crew supervision to ensure drilling targets, productivity and operational efficiency are achieved.
- Implementing and managing planned maintenance systems, preventative maintenance schedules and daily rig inspections.
- Monitoring and improving drilling performance, penetration rates, equipment availability, utilisation and overall operational efficiency.
- Leading and managing people, including supervision of drill operators, offsliders and maintenance personnel.
- Good understanding of drilling patterns, blast hole accuracy, ground conditions and drilling optimisation techniques.
- Ensuring comprehensive knowledge of health, safety and environmental compliance within a mining environment, including safe drilling practices.
- Administrative, reporting and communication, including accurate recording of drilling data and production reports.
- Working independently, under pressure and in remote site conditions.
- Ability to identify and resolve production and mechanical and electrical issues timeously.
- Team supervision, shift planning and safety compliance within a mining or quarry environment.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years' experience in the operation, supervision, maintenance and optimisation of drilling activities within the mining or exploration industry.
- Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience with various drill rigs (e.g.
- Sandvik, Atlas Copco, Epiroc or similar), including surface and/or underground drilling equipment.
- Proven ability to manage drilling production, rig performance and crew supervision to ensure drilling targets, productivity and operational efficiency are achieved.
- Sound understanding of drilling systems, including hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical components, as well as fault-finding, diagnostics and breakdown management.
- Experience in implementing and managing planned maintenance systems, preventative maintenance schedules and daily rig inspections.
- Ability to monitor and improve drilling performance, penetration rates, equipment availability, utilisation and overall operational efficiency.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, including supervision of drill operators, offsliders and maintenance personnel.
- Good understanding of drilling patterns, blast hole accuracy, ground conditions and drilling optimisation techniques.
- Comprehensive knowledge of health, safety and environmental compliance within a mining environment, including safe drilling practices.
- Strong administrative, reporting and communication skills, including accurate recording of drilling data and production reports.
- Must be able to work independently, under pressure and in remote site conditions.
- Suitably qualified and experienced Drill Supervisors or Senior Drillers with relevant drilling experience will also be considered for the position.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills, including both mechanical and hydraulic systems.
- Sound knowledge of plant maintenance planning, preventive maintenance systems and breakdown management.
- Ability to identify and resolve production and mechanical and electrical issues timeously.
- Experience in team supervision, shift planning and safety compliance within a mining or quarry environment.
- Formal qualification in electrical, hydraulic and/or mechanical systems.
- Must be able to work independently, under pressure and in remote site conditions.
