Communications Intern Jobs in Lusaka – Alinea Network Alinea Network, a leading intermediary organisation in the conservation sector, is offering an exciting opportunity for a Communications Intern based in Lusaka, Zambia.

About the Role – Communications Intern Jobs in Lusaka This full-time internship is based at Alinea’s office and provides hands-on experience in internal and external communications.

The Communications Intern will play a key role in producing engaging content, managing digital platforms, and assisting with multimedia production to strengthen the organisation’s narrative and donor engagement.

Key Responsibilities Content Creation & Storytelling:

Research and craft human-interest and impact stories; conduct interviews; develop social media content, articles, newsletters, and press materials; maintain a content calendar; and edit communications.

Donor & Partner Communications:

• Assist in preparing donor updates, partner briefings, presentations, and tailor messaging for diverse audiences.

Internal Communications:

• Support staff newsletters, cross-team updates, and document organisational milestones.

Digital & Social Media:

• Manage social media accounts, schedule posts, monitor engagement, and assist with website content updates.

Multimedia Production & Design:

• Capture and edit photos and videos; design branded posters, infographics, and social media graphics.

Events & Administrative Support:

• Support event communications, maintain digital archives, and perform other communications tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience Candidates should have obtained a Bachelor’s degree within the last two years in Communications, Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies, Digital Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field.

Experience gained through internships, volunteer work, freelancing, or university projects is highly valued. Prior exposure to the conservation or development sectors is advantageous but not mandatory.

Required Skills and Competencies Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite; video editing (CapCut, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve); photography and videography; social media management.

Personal Competencies:

Excellent written and verbal communication; strong storytelling ability; creativity; attention to detail; organisational and time-management skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively; professionalism and eagerness to learn.

Working Arrangements and Development This full-time internship operates Monday to Friday during standard office hours at Alinea’s Lusaka office. Occasional travel and after-hours work may be required for events.

The intern will receive ongoing supervision, structured feedback, and opportunities to develop skills across storytelling, digital media, donor communications, multimedia production, and graphic design. Exceptional performers may be considered for advancement to a Communications Officer role.

Desirable Attributes Preference will be given to applicants who can present a portfolio showcasing published writing, human-interest or digital storytelling, graphic design, photography, and/or videography work.
