Role Description

  • The Civil Project Engineer is a full-time, on-site position based at the Lagos smelting facility. This role oversees civil engineering aspects of plant and site development projects, including planning, design, and supervision of infrastructure works such as foundations, drainage systems, roads, utilities, and structural improvements. The Civil Project Engineer coordinates project schedules, prepares technical drawings and specifications, and collaborates with contractors, consultants, and internal teams to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution. Daily responsibilities include conducting site inspections, monitoring construction progress, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and regulatory requirements, and resolving technical issues that arise during implementation. The role also supports continuous improvement of site layout, stormwater management, and civil assets to enhance operational reliability and environmental performance.

Qualifications

  • Civil Engineering and Civil Engineering Design skills, with the ability to plan, design, and review industrial site infrastructure.
  • Site Development and Stormwater Management skills, including experience with drainage systems, earthworks, roadworks, and utility layouts.
  • Quality Control skills in construction and civil works, ensuring adherence to specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline; professional certification or registration is an advantage.
  • Experience working on industrial, manufacturing, or heavy-industry sites, preferably in metals, mining, or similar sectors.
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering and design software e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar tools and strong technical reporting skills.
  • Strong project management, communication, and collaboration abilities, with capacity to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams on-site.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental HSE standards and regulations applicable to civil and industrial projects.
