Job Summary

A reputable and growing Microfinance Bank based in Ekiti State is seeking a meticulous, compliance-driven, and qualified financial professional to fill the position of Account Officer Financial Control & Regulatory Returns.

Reporting directly to the Head of Financial Control HFC, the successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of the bank’s financial records, ensuring strict adherence to Central Bank of Nigeria CBN and NDIC regulatory reporting frameworks, and executing day-to-day accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Compliance & Reporting: Prepare, review, and ensure timely and accurate rendition of daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly statutory returns to the CBN via FinA/applicable platforms, NDIC, and other regulatory authorities.
  • Financial Record Keeping: Maintain accurate general ledger accounts, verify postings, and ensure all financial transactions comply with International Financial Reporting Standards IFRS and national accounting principles.
  • Reconciliations: Conduct routine and thorough bank reconciliations, inter-branch account clean-ups, and balance sheet reviews to flag and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Tax Management: Assist in the computation, filing, and remittance of all relevant statutory taxes WHT, VAT, PAYE to State and Federal tax authorities.
  • Budgetary Support: Assist the Head of Financial Control in preparing annual budgets, budgetary control processes, and variance analyses.
  • Fixed Asset & Inventory Management: Maintain and update the bank's fixed asset register, tracking depreciation and capital expenditures accurately.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2–4 years of active accounting or financial control experience within a regulated financial institution Microfinance Bank or Deposit Money Bank preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of the CBN Revised Regulatory and Supervisory Guidelines for Microfinance Banks, IFRS guidelines, and financial return formats.
  • Professional Certifications: Mid-stage progress or full qualification in professional examinations such as ICAN ACA, ACCA, or CIBN ACIB will be a distinct advantage.
  • Technology: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and hands-on experience working with modern Core Banking Applications CBAs and regulatory reporting portals.
  • Soft Skills: High level of integrity, strong analytical capacity, impeccable attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure to meet strict regulatory deadlines.
